(CBS/AP) Just like he promised, Arnold Schwarzenegger is back -- acting, that is.

The former California governor is currently in New Mexico on the set of Kim Jee-Woon's "The Last Stand." The Korean director is best known for his spaghetti western, "The Good, The Bad, The Weird."

"Fantastic first day on the set of The Last Stand. Big thanks to the crew - keep up the great work," he tweeted on Oct. 16. A few days before, he tweeted about a "fantastic time" with Bruce Willis and Sylvester Stallone on the set of "The Expendables 2."

"The Last Stand" is a modern-day western about convicts making their way to the Mexican border through New Mexico after escaping from a Las Vegas prison. Lionsgate, which is producing the film, said Schwarzenegger plays a former Los Angeles police officer who ends up working as a sheriff of a small border town after a botched operation.

The film also stars Forest Whitaker, Johnny Knoxville, Harry Dean Stanton, and Zach Gilford, according to a press release obtained by Entertainment Weekly. The film will be out in 2013.
