Armed man leads L.A. police on violent car chase
A dramatic car chase in Los Angeles ended with a suspect chased down by police after leading them for miles on freeways through the city and carjacking a vehicles.
The driver, who was armed, was traveling 50-60mph on surface streets near the 101 Freeway shortly and traveled on wrong side of the road in several instances, CBS Los Angeles reported.
He crashed into a pick-up truck at a busy street intersection and hit another car before he kept driving. He swerved through traffic for several minutes eventually hopping out of one car, then robbing a woman at gunpoint and taking her car. The woman apparently fled the carjacking.
He sped down the 710 expressway in Los Angeles, eventually coming to a surface street, where he became wedged between two cars. He then fled on foot for several yards before police finally took him into custody.
Officers shot at the man before he ended up handcuffed on a roadway, but it wasn't immediately clear whether he was hit, Los Angeles police officer Drake Madison said.
Ambulances rushed to the scene and administerd first aid. No officers were reportedly injured in the incident.
