Are Katy Perry and Taylor Swift pop star "enemies"?
Mean Girl alert! Shady ladies Taylor Swift and Katy Perry are apparently in a feud and the claws are coming out.
It all started on Monday when Swift's Rolling Stone cover story revealed that she has a new song about a pop star nemesis. Swift declined to name names in the article, but she did say that the feud was business related.
"For years, I was never sure if we were friends or not," Swift said. "She would come up to me at awards shows and say something and walk away, and I would think, 'Are we friends, or did she just give me the harshest insult of my life?'" Then she learned the truth.
"She did something so horrible," Swift said. "I was like, 'Oh, we're just straight-up enemies.' And it wasn't even about a guy! It had to do with business. She basically tried to sabotage an entire arena tour. She tried to hire a bunch of people out from under me."
Cue the Internet peanut gallery, where fans and haters alike speculated wildly about the "Bad Blood" subject. Guesses ranged from Miley Cyrus to Lady Gaga to Demi Lovato to Carrie Underwood. But with one concise tweet, Katy Perry threw her name in the ring with the best reference possible.
"Watch out for the Regina George in sheep's clothing..." Perry wrote hours after Swift's cover story hit the web.
(So that's why Taylor's hair is so big! It's full of secrets...)
Several Internet commenters have noted that Perry did lure a few backup dancers away from Swift's tour as she embarked on her Prismatic tour earlier this year. And while Swift did say that the feud has nothing to do with a boy, both ladies previously dated John Mayer. The Rolling Stone article also states: "Pressed, Swift admits there might have been a personal element to the conflict. 'But I don't think there would be any personal problem if she weren't competitive,' [Swift] says."
Swift also told the mag how much she hates conflict and that she now has to "avoid" her pop star enemy. A good idea to be sure -- we would hate to see either of these divas get hit by a bus!
