"Archer" producers want to do a live-action movie starring Jon Hamm
We already know that Jon Hamm looks good in a tux, so this isn't really that much of a stretch.
The minds behind the FX animated spy series "Archer" know that if they bring their belligerent international espionage expert -- voiced by H. Jon Benjamin -- to the big screen, it will hopefully involve one slight tweak to the casting.
"It's Jon Hamm," executive producer Matt Thompson tells the Daily Beast. "If 'Archer' goes live-action, I do believe it will be Jon Hamm. Maybe you could do it with Jon Benjamin's voice coming out of him? I don't know. ... But if it is live-action -- and if it is not Jon Benjamin -- it is our greatest hope that it would be Jon Hamm. I can say that with confidence."
Of course, that all depends on whether the show's creative team decides to pursue a film at all -- a conversation that Thompson says he and the show's creator, Adam Reed, have on a regular basis.
"It's all up to whatever Adam wants to do, but he and I have definitely talked about it," Thompson said. "We talk about it once every two years. We vacillate between if you do it, why are you doing the TV show? And should it be live-action, or should it be cartoon? The talk is there, we just still haven't decided. I don't think there will be a movie before the last episode of 'Archer' airs on TV."
That may have already happened, though. "Archer" aired the finale of its seventh season last week, and FX has yet to renew the series for an eighth.
