Apple Watch coming to stores soon
In a couple weeks, Apple Watch wanna-haves will be able to waltz into a store and walk out wearing one.
In a statement Thursday, Apple's senior vice president of operations, Jeff Williams, said the company will start selling its coveted Watches -- currently available online -- at Apple stores.
Williams addressed the delays that have stymied shipments since the end of April. Some customers who pre-ordered watches found themselves waiting six weeks or more. And some more recent orders are still held up.
"The response to Apple Watch has surpassed our expectations in every way, and we are thrilled to bring it to more customers around the world," Williams said. "We're also making great progress with the backlog of Apple Watch orders, and we thank our customers for their patience. All orders placed through May, with the sole exception of Apple Watch 42 mm Space Black Stainless Steel with Space Black Link Bracelet, will ship to customers within two weeks. At that time, we'll also begin selling some models in our Apple Retail Stores."
He did not specify which models will hit shelves.
Apple Watch Sport prices start at $349, while the steel Apple Watch ranges from $549 to $1,099. Apple rolled out the red carpet for those interested in the 18-karat-gold Apple Watch Edition, which costs between $10,000 and $17,000.
Starting June 26, Apple Watch will expand sales to Italy, Mexico, Singapore, South Korea, Spain, Switzerland and Taiwan.
