Apple founding documents auctioned off for $1.59 million
Apple's stock has been quite the investment over the years but that's chump change compared with the price the company's three-page founding documents fetched at auction on Tuesday.
Sotheby's today sold the document, co-signed in 1976 by Steve Jobs, Steve Wozniak and Ronald Wayne, for a higher-than-expected $1.59 million to Eduardo Cisneros, chief executive officer of Cisneros Corp., according to Sotheby's. When Sotheby's first announced the auction, it estimated that the proceeds would bring in between $100,000 to $150,000.
Efforts to reach Cisneros were not immediately successful.
