Angelina Jolie's "Maleficent" gets a 2014 release date

(CBS News) Angelina Jolie will take on the role of the ultimate villain in Disney's "Maleficent," a live-action film set to hit theaters March 14, 2014.

The 36-year-old actress will portray the title role in the movie, an update of the 1959 "Sleeping Beauty" animated feature. The upcoming film will explore "the origins of the evil fairy Maleficent and what led her to curse Princess Aurora in Disney's animated classic 'Sleeping Beauty.'"

Jolie recently told Entertainment Weekly that she starts the film in June, adding, that "it's a really great script. I'm having a lot of fun. I've already got my horns fitted. My kids are very happy."
