Poehler left the late-night sketch comedy show in 2008 but has come back multiple times. Katy Perry is the musical guest.

Poehler, the 38-year-old mother of two, is three-times nominated for an Emmy Award, twice on "SNL" and once for her work on her current sitcom, "Parks and Recreation."

Poehler had her second child with husband Will Arnett last month.

Several "SNL" actors have left the show in recent weeks including Will Forte and Jenny Slate.

The season premiere will air Sept. 25.
