America Ferrera to star in Chicago

(CBS/AP) London's "Chicago" production will soon have a new showgirl. "Ugly Betty" actress America Ferrera will assume the role of Roxie Hart in the long-running West End musical, starting Nov. 7.

Ferrera joins a long list of celebrities who have played Roxie in London including Christie Brinkley, Ashlee Simpson and Brooke Shields. Former "American Idol" judge Kara DioGuardi is currently starring in the role on Broadway.

Ferrera, 27, says she's "very excited" about the upcoming eight-week run at the Garrick Theater. After the London stint wraps, Ferrera will make her Broadway debut next spring in a revival of Beth Henley's 1984 play, "The Miss Firecracker Contest." EW.com reports that she'll begin rehearsals in March.

Ferrera is also keeping a busy personal life. She and her longtime love, Ryan Piers Williams, tied the knot in June.
