Amber Alert for child missing after machete attack
EL RENO, Okla. -- Authorities have issued an Amber Alert for an 8-year-old Oklahoma child who went missing after a machete attack that critically injured two, reports CBS affiliate KWTV.
Mabel Lopez is believed to be with her father Arcenio De Jesus, a suspect in the attack, and her mother Miria Lopez-Rodriguez, who police say is an additional victim. Police say they believe the child could be in grave or immediate danger.
The stabbing reportedly happened late Wednesday night at a home in El Reno, west of Oklahoma City. El Reno Police tell the station two male victims were stabbed. One reportedly stumbled across the street to a grocery store to seek help, telling workers there he had been stabbed in the face and hand and that there was another stabbing victim in the yard of the home. Both were airlifted to a hospital where they were listed in critical condition.
Police reportedly believe the weapon used in the attack was a machete.
DeJesus is believed to have fled to Texas with Lopez-Rodriguez and the child. Police believe he may be on his way to Mexico. El Reno police are working with federal, state and local officials in Texas to locate them.
A warrant has been issued for his arrest charging him with two counts of assault with a deadly weapon. He's believed to be driving a dark gray 2005 Ford Explorer with Oklahoma license plate 689 LHD. Anyone with information is asked to call the El Reno, Oklahoma Police Department at 405-262-2121.
