Amazon announces new Kindle Paperwhite
Amazon announced Tuesday an update to its Kindle Paperwhite e-reader.
"Kindle is the best-selling e-reader in the world for six years running," Jeff Bezos, Amazon founder and CEO, said in a statement.
The new Kindle Paperwhite has a display with higher contrast, next-generation built-in light and better touch technology. Kindle Paperwhite also includes integration with Goodreads, easy page flipping technology and Free Time -- a feature that lets parents track their kids' reading progress.
Kindle Paperwhite is available for pre-order now, and will start shipping on Sept. 30. A basic model retails for $119, while a Wi-Fi + 3G version will cost $189.
Amazon introduced the first Kindle Paperwhite last year, with a new line of Kindle Fires. The light technology behind the Paperwhite is unique. Instead of the light pointing outward, it goes down -- making it easier to read in daylight
