Alleged victim files suit against The Second Mile charity
The attorney for one of the alleged sex abuse victims of Jerry Sandusky filed an emergency motion in Pa. court today seeking to prevent the Second Mile from "dissipating or transferring its assets."
The attorney Ben Andreozzi is seeking an injunction on behalf of his client who he said in court papers was "repeatedly sexually assaulted" by Sandusky and other alleged victims to ensure that the organization is being "financially responsible". Andreozzi said he took the step after learning that the organization founded by Sandusky was considering transferring its program and not continuing to operate.
The Second Mile, a foundation for disadvantaged youth started by Sandusky in 1977, reported on its website recently that it was exploring its future options including transferring its program to other organizations or closing up shop.
Second Mile CEO Jack Raykoviz resigned last week after 28 years and the new management is said to be considering three options: restructuring its organization and keeping its programs going even if its means at a reduced level, maintaining the program by transferring it to a non profit organization or not continuing at all.
