Alexis Christoforous
Alexis Christoforous has been the New York-based MarketWatch correspondent and anchor for CBS Newspath, the 24-hour affiliate news service of CBS News, since March 2005.
Christoforous is also the anchor for the nationally syndicated program "MarketWatch Weekend," which airs exclusively on CBS stations, and is a contributing correspondent for the CBS Evening News weekend editions and the CBS Radio Network.
Prior to joining CBS News, Christoforous was the lead reporter and substitute anchor for CBS MarketWatch, which was minority-owned by Viacom, the parent company of CBS.
She began her business news career at Bloomberg Television and Radio in 1994, where she anchored the national PBS program "Bloomberg Morning News" and was Bloomberg's first reporter to report live from the floor of the New York Stock Exchange.
Christoforous covered the stock market bull run of the early 1990s and the subsequent Internet bubble burst of 2000. She reported on the economic impact of the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks, the resignation of New York Stock Exchange CEO Richard Grasso and the wave of Wall Street scandals, including Enron, Worldcom and Martha Stewart.
In addition to her business reporting, Christoforous has conducted many newsmaker interviews, including Ringo Starr, Tony Bennett, Francis Ford Coppola, Garth Brooks, Susan Lucci and Emeril Lagasse.
Christoforous graduated cum laude from New York University with a degree in English and Journalism. She lives in New York City with her husband and two sons.
