"Agents of SHIELD" returns, plus other ABC renewals, cancellations
ABC has started to reveal which shows are staying and which ones are getting the boot.
"Agents of SHIELD" will return for a second season, and the network has also picked up a Captain America spinoff called "Marvel's Agent Carter," starring Hayley Atwell as Peggy Carter; she works for the covert SSR and must balance administrative work and secret missions.
In addition to "Agents of SHIELD," ABC is bringing back favorite comedy "Modern Family" for a season 6, along with "Resurrection," "The Middle," "Revenge," "Castle" and "Scandal." "Grey's Anatomy" will return for an 11th season, and "The Goldbergs" will live to see another season, too, as will "Dancing with the Stars." The reality dance programs has been renewed for a 19th season.
Some shows won't be back, including "Trophy Wife" with Malin Akerman and the sitcom "Mixology."
Akerman tweeted:
ABC will also take a chance on some new shows, including five new dramas. One of those -- from "Scandal" creator Shonda Rhimes -- stars actress Viola Davis. Dubbed "How to Get Away with Murder," the series will follow professor Annalise Keating who gets entangled with four law students from her class.
Another drama, "American Crime," will see Felicity Huffman back on the small screen.
ABC has also picked up two comedies: "Manhattan Love Story" and "Selfie."
