After three years, man charged in murders of two Okla. girls
(CBS/AP) OKEMAH, Okla. - Three years after two Oklahoma girls were found shot to death in a ditch police have arrested the man they believe is responsible for the double-murder.
On Friday, authorities announced that they were filing two counts of first degree murder against Kevin Sweat, 25, for the killings of Taylor Placker, 13, and Skyla Whitaker, 11 in June 2008.
Sweat is already in custody, charged with murder in the death of his girlfriend, Ashley Taylor.
Sweat reportedly told an investigator he saw "two monsters' come at him" and fired at them with .40- and .22-caliber handguns.
According to CNN, Skyla was shot eight times and Taylor five times.
