Aaron Hernandez's attys seek medical records from Patriots
BOSTON - Attorneys for Aaron Hernandez have asked a court to subpoena his medical records from the New England Patriots, the NFL team the 24-year-old once played for, according to CBS Boston.
Hernandez's defense team reportedly says the records could provide potential evidence about his physical and mental state prior to his arrest last June in the murder of semi-pro football player Odin Lloyd, who had been dating the sister of Hernandez's fiancée.
Hernandez is charged in Lloyd's June 17, 2013 slaying as well as in separate case in which he is accused of gunning down two men in Boston in a drive-by shooting in 2012. He has pleaded not guilty in both cases and is being held without bail.
Attorneys for the former football star said they have previously requested the medical records from the team, but received no response.
The requested records reportedly include psychological testing, medication records, X-rays, MRIs, CT scans, drug and alcohol abuse records, physical therapy records, etc.
During a pretrial hearing on Monday, Hernandez's attorneys challenged the evidence in the Lloyd murder case, arguing that prosecutors have not established probable cause.
Prosecutors countered that they have powerful evidence against Hernandez.
A tentative trial date of Oct. 6 has been set in the Lloyd murder case. The judge did not immediately rule on the motion to dismiss the murder charge.
