The 23-year-old player was wearing a white t-shirt and had his arms inside his shirt and behind his back, presumably handcuffed, reports the station.

He was taken into custody more than a week after his friend's body was found a mile from his home. On Tuesday, some law enforcement officers searched near both Hernandez's home and the industrial park where Odin Lloyd's body was found.

Lloyd, who played for the semi-pro Boston Bandits, was found slain June 17. The 27-year-old's relatives said he was dating the sister of Hernandez's fiancee and that the two men were friends.

Attleboro District Court officials had sealed documents related to the case, including search warrants. State police have searched in and around Hernandez's home several times, and least three search warrants have been issued in connection with the investigation.

Hernandez's attorney had said he will refrain from commenting on the substance of the investigation while it is ongoing.

The Patriots drafted Hernandez, who is originally from Bristol, Conn., out of the University of Florida in 2010. Last summer, the team gave him a five-year contract worth $40 million.

No additional details regarding the arrest have been released.
