A Different Olsen Sister Breaks Out at Sundance

Elizabeth Olsen poses for a portrait in the Fender Music Lodge during the 2011 Sundance Film Festival on Jan. 22, 2011, in Park City, Utah.

NEW YORK (CBS) Who knew Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen had an even younger sister?

Lots of people, probably, but until now Elizabeth Olsen, 21, has been off the celeb radar. That changed over the weekend.

Olsen's performance in the drama "Martha Marcy May Marlene," about a woman who leaves an abusive cult and returns home, is generating good reviews. She also stars in the horror film "Silent House," a film composed of a single continuous movie  by the makers of "Open Water."

Any film that uses one continuous take - or seems to - like Alfred Hitchcock's "Rope" or "Silent House" can seem like a stunt and the hype surrounding that stunt can overwhelm the film. Olsen has managed to rise above talk of the film's technique. She's even scored her next movie project.

The Hollywood Reporter writes in a blog that Olsen has signed on to appear in Rodrigo Cortes' "Red Lights," which stars Robert De Niro, Sigourney Weaver and Cillian Murphy. Cortes is the director behind the 2010 Ryan Reynolds thriller "Buried."

CNN reports that Olsen has stayed mostly in theater until now because making films and the media frightened her. Apparently she's gotten past that.
