9th Anniversary of George Harrison's Death Marked

NEW YORK (CBS) Today marks the ninth anniversary of the death of George Harrison, the former Beatles guitarist who died on this day at the age of 58 after a long battle against cancer.

Known as the "quiet Beatle," Harrison was the youngest of the famous pop group and is remembered for his fascination with Eastern philosophy along with his successful solo career.

His credits with the Fab Four include the songs, "Here Comes the Sun," "While My Guitar Gently Weep," and "Something," a song described by Frank Sinatra as the best love song of the past 50 years.

Soon after The Beatles split in 1970, Harrison released his critically acclaimed solo album, "All Things Must Pass." The album and its single "My Sweet Lord" both went to #1, making him the first of the four to top the UK charts as a solo artist.
