Rose Bruce, 79 Volusia County Sheriff's Office

(CBS) DAYTONA, Fla.- Rose Bruce, a 79-year-old Ormond Beach Walmart employee, was reported missing on Monday night, reports the Daytona Beach News-Journal.

The home of the 79-year-old was found unlocked with dinner burning in the oven and the car missing, both unusual occurrences for the healthy, careful elderly woman, according to her family.

According to the paper, the Volusia County sheriff thinks she might now be in danger because of her suspicious disappearance.

Bruce's shift reportedly ended at 10 p.m. on Monday when she drove home from work to put dinner in the oven. A deputy's report says that Bruce was supposed to return to the store at 11 p.m. to pick up Cathy Ryan, also a Walmart employee, according to the paper. When Bruce did not show up, Ryan reportedly called her mother-in-law only to be greeted by her voice mail.

When Ryan arrived at the house, the door was reportedly unlocked and the home was filled with smoke. According to the Daytona Journal, Ryan does not suffer from Alzheimer's or any other cognitive disorders and does not take any medication.

Bruce is described as a white woman, about 5 feet tall and weighing between 100 and 115 pounds. She has short grayish-white hair, blue eyes and wears wire-rimmed glasses. She drives a blue, 1997 Honda Accord, Florida license tag number K383JA. Anyone with information is asked to call the Sheriff's Office, 386-736-5999.
