76ers' Snow Out 6-To-8 Weeks

Philadelphia 76ers point guard Eric Snow will miss 6-to-8 weeks because of a stress fracture in his right ankle.

Snow, who leads the team in assists with 6.6 per game, helped lead the Sixers to a franchise-best 10-0 start. He was averaging 12.2 points, and scored at least 20 points in three straight games in one stretch.

"I'm feeling real disappointed right now," Snow said. "It's unfortunate that I had to go down with another injury, but I have the utmost confidence that my guys will continue to get better and better and only improve our record."

Snow had four points, eight rebounds and six assists while playing 40 minutes in a 96-85 loss to the Lakers on Tuesday night.

Snow had a CT scan at a Los Angeles hospital Wednesday, and was examined by Los Angeles Lakers team physician Dr. Stephen Lombardo.

Philadelphia has lost two straight in the middle of a five-game West Coast trip to fall to 14-4.

Shooting guard Aaron McKie likely will start at point guard in Snow's absence. McKie, however, is questionable for Friday's game at Portland because of a concussion.

Vernon Maxwell also could see action at the point. Reserve point guard Pepe Sanchez is on the injured list, and is eligible to come off it after Friday's game.

Snow missed five games in last season's playoffs because of a chip fracture in his right ankle, but the Sixers beat Charlotte in the first round before losing to Indiana in the Eastern Conference semifinals.
