4-year-old girl dies after father crashes during street race

WINTON HILLS, Ohio -- A 4-year-old girl died after her father crashed during a street race on New Year's Day, according to police. She had been in critical condition, CBS Cincinnati affiliate WKRC reports.

Terence McNulty, 25, was driving a Ford Taurus carrying the girl, who was wearing a seatbelt but was not in a booster or car seat, according to police. The Taurus and an Audi A6 -- driven by 30-year-old Gerald Howell -- were headed north when they collided. That propelled them into oncoming traffic in southbound lanes, according to the station.

An SUV hit the Taurus, sending it over a guardrail and into a ditch. Another car hit the Audi head-on.

Police said the girl died Tuesday.

Five adults who went to the hospital were expected to recover. Police haven't said what charges, if any, might be filed. Police are continuing to investigate, The Associated Press reports.
