3 dead, 2 injured in shooting at Houston apartment complex
HARRIS COUNTY, Texas - Three people were shot to death Wednesday afternoon at an apartment complex in Houston, reports CBS affiliate KHOU.
All three victims, two women and a man, were shot in the head, according to the Harris County Sheriff's Office.
Another woman and a man were seriously injured by gunfire and rushed to Memorial Hermann Hospital by helicopter, according to the station.
Authorities said all five victims were shot inside a unit at the Pepper Mill Place Apartments in Northwest Harris County.
A neighbor reportedly called 911 after hearing back-to-back gunshots Wednesday. There was no disturbance heard prior to the gunfire, according to the station.
Sheriff Adrian Garcia said the victims all appear to be young adults ranging in ages from 18-years-old to early 20s.
"It's a waste of human life," Garcia said. "Young people who will not get to fufill the promise that they were born with."
The suspect reportedly fled and has not been caught.
Many neighbors packed up and stayed elsewhere for the night.
"I don't feel safe here anymore," said neighbor Reanna Auclair.
Investigators found multiple weapons and narcotics inside the apartment where the shots rang out, the station reports. A description of the suspected shooter has not been released. The suspect was reportedly seen leaving the apartment and closing the door behind him.
