2012 Pay Set to Rise

Finally, a bit of good news about the economy: wages are set to rise in 2012! Sure, I've been pretty downbeat of late--you just can't deny that the global economy has slowed down and that millions of Americans are suffering, but as my mother likes to say, "We like good news too!"

Mom, here's the good news: according to a recent survey conducted by consulting firm Towers Watson, large employers are planning to loosen the purse strings a little in 2012, with pay increases of up to 4.5 percent. Does this mean you can be bold and ask for more money? I discussed this question with CBS TV stations this morning.
