Bodies found in closet believed to be Tenn. couple
NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- Authorities are investigating the slaying of two people whose bodies were found stuffed in a Nashville closet and covered in trash.
Nashville Metro Police spokesman Don Aaron tells local media that the two unidentified bodies of a man and woman were found early Sunday morning.
Investigators believe the victims are 24-year-old Preston Claybrooks Jr. and his longtime girlfriend, 23-year-old Alexandra Grubbs, both of Nashville, whose families reported them missing Sept. 24. Authorities said the identities of the bodies had not been confirmed due to severe trauma.
CBS affiliate WTVF reports Claybrooks' mother went to the apartment - where her son was known to hang out - On Saturday morning, and contacted authorities about an odor coming from the apartment. Authorities eventually found the bodies in a large closet, under junk and debris.
Officials said the evidence showed an extremely violent crime happened inside the apartment, followed by an attempted cleanup, reports the station.
Police are searching for the man who leased the home, 20-year-old Brandon Griswold, as well as his girlfriend, 21-year-old Whitney Gray. Both are wanted for questioning. Neither has been named a suspect in the case.
Authorities say they may be driving in Gray's 2009 Chevrolet Impala with an Oklahoma license plate number 261LPO.
