2 dead in Northern California shooting; officer shot during manhunt
LAKE COUNTY -- Two people were killed and a suspect taken into custody Monday after a shooting near a Northern California post office, reports CBS San Francisco.
The shooting happened late Monday morning on the eastern edge of Clear Lake, in Lake County, California, the station reports.
The Lake County Sheriff's Office sent out an alert to residents shortly before noon advising those near the post office to shelter in place. Not long after, a California Highway Patrol officer encountered the suspect, who opened fire, shooting the officer in the leg.
Later Monday, deputies spotted the suspect and took him into custody after a pursuit.
The wounded officer's injury is not considered life threatening. Officials have not released the names of either the victims or suspect.
