Love Is Western Conference Player Of The Week

Minnesota Timberwolves forward Kevin Love is the NBA's Western Conference player of the week for the opening week of the season. Love leads the NBA with 29.7 points per game and is second with 14.7 rebounds per game. He powered the Wolves to three victories last week for their first 3-0 start since 2001. His off-balance, one-handed bank shot at Madison Square Garden on Monday night helped the Wolves hold off Carmelo Anthony and the New York Knicks. The league also issued Love a warning for flopping in the game against the Knicks. Love was warned for flopping when Knicks rookie Tim Hardaway Jr. bumped him at the top of the key in the fourth quarter.

Raptors Win Foul Fest Over Timberwolves, 104-97

Austin Daye scored 12 points to help the Toronto Raptors win a sloppy preseason game against the Minnesota Timberwolves, 104-97 on Saturday night. Tyler Hansbrough was the only other Raptor in double figures with 11. The Raptors shot 50 percent to overcome 35 fouls and three technicals for delay of game, which is a point of emphasis with officials this season. Kevin Love had 28 points and 11 rebounds in 28 minutes for the Timberwolves. But the Wolves shot just 35 percent and lost despite forcing 26 turnovers and going to the foul line for 50 shots. They missed 15 free throws.

Love Returns To The Timberwolves With An Edge

Kevin Love showed up for the start of Minnesota Timberwolves training camp eager to put last season behind him, and it's hard to blame him. Love played in only 18 games last season because of a right hand that was broken twice and a minor knee injury. Some fans turned on him as well, so Love threw himself into a rigorous training regimen this summer and comes back with something to prove. Love showed up with a chiseled frame and ready to reclaim his spot as the league's best power forward.

Martin Looks Forward To Joining Love, Rubio In MN

Kevin Martin learned a lot in his one year in Oklahoma City, about playing for a contender, about using team defensive principles to account for individual weaknesses and about tailoring his game to what's needed from him. The simplest truth turned out to be the most important to him — life is a whole lot easier playing alongside a couple of stars like Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook. Now he's hoping Kevin Love and Ricky Rubio will have the same effect in Minnesota. "After playing with Kevin Durant and Russell, I wasn't going to another team without a superstar," Martin said on Saturday. "It just elevates your game and makes your life a lot easier.
