Wolves' Love Sidelined By Bruised Left Quadriceps

All-Star forward Kevin Love missed Minnesota's game against Portland because of a bruised left quadriceps, and starting point guard Kevin Martin also was out Saturday night because of a broken left thumb that will sideline him indefinitely. Love limped noticeably a couple hours before the scheduled tipoff. He told reporters he took a knee from New Orleans' Greg Steimsma on Friday night in Minnesota's road loss. Before the injury was announced, Love — averaging 25.6 points and 13.3 rebounds — said he had no plans of skipping the All-Star game.

Korver Leads Hawks Past Love, Timberwolves 120-113

Kyle Korver scored 24 points, including a trio of 3-pointers in a third-quarter stretch that gave Atlanta the lead, and the Hawks overcame Kevin Love's 43 points to beat the Minnesota Timberwolves 120-113 on Saturday night. Paul Millsap, guarded by Love much of the night in a matchup of All-Stars, had 20 points and 13 rebounds before fouling out late in the game. A jam by Minnesota's Corey Brewer with 2:55 remaining cut Atlanta's lead to 107-104. Jeff Teague, who had 19 points, drove for a layup and DeMarre Carroll's free throws pushed the lead to seven points.

Derrick Williams Returns To Minnesota

Derrick Williams walked off the bus and strolled into Target Center toward the entrance to the visiting locker room. As he put his hand on the door knob and started to open it, he did a double-take to make sure he was headed to the right place. It's hard to blame Williams for his tentativeness since he had spent the first two years of his career walking into the home locker room in this building. Williams made his return to Minnesota on Wednesday night, a month and a half after the Timberwolves traded the former No. 2 overall pick to the Sacramento Kings for Luc Mbah a Moute.

Durant Carries Thunder To Win Over Timberwolves

Kevin Love, Nikola Pekovic and the Minnesota Timberwolves were ganging up on Kevin Durant, and a rare three-game losing streak for the Oklahoma City Thunder was just over the horizon. Durant's sidekick was on the bench in street clothes, leaving him on an island again. Frustrated from a poor start, Durant came out swinging in the fourth quarter and knocked the Timberwolves out with a fury. Barking at and mean-mugging the feisty Wolves, Durant scored 23 of his season-high 48 points in the fourth quarter and hit the winner with 4 seconds to play to rally the Thunder from 13 points down to a 115-111 victory on Saturday night.
