Freeman Signing Further Muddles Minnesota QB Group

Minnesota's quarterback this weekend will be Matt Cassel or Christian Ponder, not Josh Freeman. If Ponder has healed from his broken rib, Coach Leslie Frazier said, he will return as the starter. If Ponder is still hurt, Cassel will keep the job. Beyond Sunday's game against Carolina, well, there's no guarantee for anyone. The Vikings were finalizing Freeman's contract Monday, four days after the 25-year-old was cut by Tampa Bay. He didn't make it in time for practice but was scheduled to arrive later, and Freeman and general manager Rick Spielman were scheduled to address reporters in an evening conference call.

Eden Prairie Police Find 2 Dead In Apartment

Eden Prairie police found a woman and a man dead Saturday in a shooting that prompted the evacuation of an apartment building for several hours. Investigators weren't immediately able to say whether the deaths were a murder-suicide or double-homicide, police spokeswoman Katie Bengtson said. But authorities are not looking for suspects, she added. A resident of the Eden Place apartment complex called 911 about 7 a.m. Saturday to report shots being fired in another unit. The Eden Prairie SWAT team and officers from other nearby suburban departments responded and surrounded the building.
