Teen Pleads Guilty In Burnsville Crash That Killed 2

An 18-year-old man from Burnsville pleaded guilty in juvenile court Tuesday for his role in a crash on Buck Hill that killed two teenagers and injured two other teens. The driver – a 17-year-old juvenile at the time of the June 2012 crash – pleaded guilty to two felony counts of Criminal Vehicular Homicide, one felony count of Criminal Vehicular Operation, and one count of gross misdemeanor count of Criminal Vehicular Operation.

Man In Custody After Burnsville Gas Station Standoff

One man is behind bars after a standoff with police that forced a busy highway to close early Saturday evening. According to Burnsville Police, a man with a sawed-off shotgun entered the Holiday Gas Station on Highway 13 and Nicollet Avenue in Burnsville at 6:15 p.m. The man fired once in to the ceiling, and took two employees hostage. Police arrived soon after, and were able to talk the man down to the point of surrender. The gunman made no demands during the standoff.

Former Christian Radio Host Sentenced For $194 Million Ponzi Scheme

The fourth man convicted in a $194 million Ponzi scheme - the second largest in Minnesota history - was sentenced Monday to 240 months in federal prison. According to the U.S. Attorney General's office, 75-year-old Patrick Kiley of Burnsville was convicted last June of 12 counts of wire and mail fraud, one count of conspiracy to commit mail and wire fraud and two counts of money laundering. Kiley - along with ring leader Trevor Cook, Jason Bo-Alan Beckman, Gerald Joseph Durand and Christopher Pettengill – were all solely and jointly ordered to pay $155,359,411 in restitution to their victims.
