Young Hunter Shot In Knee During Canoe Accident
IRON, Minn. (WCCO) – An Eveleth teen was accidently shot by his brother while duck hunting in a canoe early Saturday morning.
According to the St. Louis County Sheriff's Department, three teens were in a canoe on Elbow Lake: 16-year old Baker Felix, his 18-year-old brother Bryten and 18-year-old Olaf Walkky of Britt.
As the young hunters stood up in the canoe to shoot at ducks overhead, the canoe rolled and began to take on water. As Bryten fell back and tried to catch himself, his shotgun discharged – hitting Baker in the knee.
The victim was taken to Essentia/St. Mary's Hospital in Duluth, and is listed in stable condition.
The St. Louis County Sheriff's Department is currently investigating the accident.
