Xcel Reduces Service Outages To 1,000
MINNEAPOLIS (AP) -- Xcel Energy says it's working to restore service to about 1,000 Twin Cities customers still without power in the wake of this week's severe weather.
The utility says its crews and contractors worked around the clock to restore service to more than 160,000 customers in Minnesota, South Dakota and North Dakota since Tuesday when high wind and rain blew through its upper Midwest territory.
By 7:30 p.m. Thursday, just over 1,000 Xcel customers were still without power in the Twin Cities -- 877 in the western metro and 167 in the east.
Xcel says the company is getting help from Omaha Public Power, which sent field crews to the Twin Cities Wednesday evening.
