Xcel Energy Hopes To Have Nearly All Power Restored Sunday
MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Xcel Energy says the number of Minnesota customers still without electricity after a weekend storm continues to shrink.
A company spokeswoman says as of about 10 p.m. Sunday, the number of customers without service was down to about 5,400 around Twin Cities metro area.
At the outage's peak, about 240,000 Xcel Energy customers in Minnesota and western Wisconsin lost power during the storms. Power has been restored to all Wisconsin customers.
The company expects to have power restored to 97 percent of affected customers by midnight Sunday, although some of the hardest-hit areas won't get power back until Monday.
Xcel Energy says 750 company employees, contractors and partners are working 16-hour shifts to restore power.
