Worker Critically Injured In L.A. Fitness Incident
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- A maintenance worker was critically injured Monday morning after some pool chemicals at L.A. Fitness in Hopkins were improperly mixed, according to police.
Officers were called to the L.A. Fitness at 1710 Highway 7 around 11 a.m. Monday for two people experiencing breathing problems.
Upon arrival, police discovered the two people were from the maintenance crew and were having health issues after some pool chemicals were improperly mixed.
Police said the mix of chemicals resulted in a vapor cloud that the workers inhaled.
The workers, both men, are 29 and 31 years old.
They were transported to Hennepin County Medical Center, where one of the individuals was listed in critical condition. The other was transported as a precaution, according to police.
The pool area and locker rooms have been evacuated while crews work to ventilate the area.
