Work At Minn. Capitol Pauses For Senator's Funeral
ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) — Most of the legislative business at the Capitol has been called off so lawmakers can attend the funeral of a colleague.
The funeral for state Sen. Gary Kubly will be held Wednesday morning in his hometown of Granite Falls.
Kubly, who was 68, died on Friday after a battle with Lou Gehrig's disease.
Gov. Mark Dayton has ordered flags to be flown at half-staff on Wednesday in honor of Kubly. Dayton plans to attend the funeral and has also declared Wednesday to be "Gary Kubly Day" in Minnesota.
Kubly was a Lutheran minister in addition to his legislative service. He served three terms in the state House starting in 1996, then moved to the state Senate where he served three terms.
