Women Filling Convention Center For Lululemon Yoga Pants
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Whether it's for yoga pants, tank tops or jackets, the Minneapolis Convention Center is bursting at the seams with some of the most sought-after workout apparel. The Lululemon warehouse sale began Friday and will continue at the Convention Center through the weekend.
Enthusiastic shoppers started camping out early Friday morning, eager to stretch their dollar.
"We got here before 7 a.m., like right before 7 a.m., and we waited in line for three hours. Everything is sized perfectly though, so you can…sweep through, grab what you want," Lululemon sale shopper Smitha Abbott said.
Abbott's daughter, Alex, got to shop too. It's her spring break and she said the warehouse sale was much better than being in Florida.
So what's with all the craze over the pants?
Lululemon is a brand that doesn't go on sale very often as yoga pants can cost in upwards of $100.
Lululemon's signature vibrant gear is selling for around 40 to 60 percent off the retail price. Prices range from $9 to $89, most are $20 to $50.
Moms and daughters aren't the only ones shopping Lulu.
The yoga-inspired brand is becoming increasingly popular with teenagers and men.
"I was the only one in my family that didn't have anything Lululemon. I was like, 'Uh I might as well try to get something.' I got three shirts…a hoodie that I like and a couple pairs of pants," shopper Pete O'Brien said.
When the hunt for deals is done, expect another wait around 45 to 90 minutes to check out. Time customers said is well worth the wait since the clothes will last for plenty of workouts to come.
"My shirt is usually about $100 dollars and it's $40 today," said shopper Sarah Huinker. "I'll probably save about $150 dollars today… I know it's expensive, but it's so comfortable to workout in," shopper Sarah Huinker said.
Officials with Lululemon said they hadn't done an event like this in Minnesota, but decided to after opening more stores in the Twin Cities recently. There are six locations in the metro.
The sale continues from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.
If you're going, don't bring cash. They will only accept credit and debit cards. Also bring an ID. Only small bags are allowed inside.
