Woman Shot Dead In Mpls. Strip Club, Suspect Turns Herself In
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- A woman has turned herself in after police say she walked into a downtown Minneapolis strip club and fatally shot another woman.
The shooting happened inside Augie's Cabaret, on Hennepin Avenue, just after 1 a.m. Saturday.
Investigators believe it wasn't a random attack, that the victim was specifically targeted.
The suspect allegedly walked into the topless nightclub, shot the victim -- later identified as 32-year-old Lakisha Marie Neal -- then fled the scene.
When officers arrived, Neal was already dead. She died of a gunshot wound to the head, the Hennepin County Medical Examiner's Office said.
Friends of Neal said she was a good mother and an encouraging person.
"I know there is nothing you can do that's that bad--to justify shooting," a friend said. "There's nothing you can do that bad. We need to stop all the violence."
Friends held a vigil outside Augie's Saturday night, praying for peace.
They said Neal was enjoying a Friday night out and don't know why she would have been targeted.
Her family and friends are resting on their faith to get through this difficult time.
The name of the suspect has not been released.
