Woman Reunited With Ring She Lost At Target Field
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Two friends who are big Twins fans found themselves crying at a May game, and it had nothing to do with the score.
What Lorray Rolfer lost was expensive and very valuable to her personally.
In the ninth inning of a May game, she took of her mittens and realized she lost her engagement ring.
"I totally thought it was gone for good. At first, it took a lot to sink in, but when it did that I lost it, it was pretty devastating," she said.
She and her friend looked for her ring for an hour-and-a-half. They came out of the stadium and into Target Plaza to search, along with the Skyway to the parking garage and the garage itself. The ring was nowhere to be found.
"I freaked," she said. "I was like, 'Catie! Catie! Come here.' And she was like, 'What?' And I said, 'Look! Look! Look!' And she was like, 'Oh, my God!' And then I said, 'Oh, my God, yes!' And we started looking everywhere."
Rolfer had taken the ring off before putting on hand lotion. She stuck it in her pocket, and when she grabbed the tickets in the same pocket, the ring flew out as she was going through security at one of the gates.
"How do you find a ring in the stadium the size of Target Field? What do you do," Rolfer said.
She went home and posted ads on Craigslist and Facebook the next day. Rolfer nearly gave up.
"Within a few hours, somebody said, 'I have your ring,'" she said.
A man who works game security and saw it on the ground while checking bags.
"What he did for me, not just for my ring, but reinforcing there are great people in this world that care about the rest of the people around them. It means a lot to me," she said. "It makes me emotional, because I think, 'Wow! There are still people left in this world who care about other people enough that they never met or ever known to make sure the right thing happens.'"
Her ring holds a story of love. Now it also holds a story of an unforgettable day at a Target Field, along with a lesson she won't soon forget.
"It's not coming off, ever," she said. "I love it a lot."
