Woman Pleads Guilty To Social Security Embezzlement
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – A 28-year-old woman who worked for a social security benefits company pleaded guilty in Minneapolis Federal Court on Tuesday to stealing more than $25,000 in those benefits from three clients.
Tiffannie Ollila pleaded guilty to one count of theft of government money in connection with the case. She was indicted on Jan. 19.
In her plea agreement, Ollila admitted that from June 20 to Oct. 21 of 2008, she embezzled money through her job as a representative payee for the Social Security Administration. She admitted to writing checks to her herself and used electronic bill pay to pay her personal bills from client's accounts.
Ollila worked at a company in Itasca County. She now faces up to 10 years in prison.
