Woman Kept In Cage As Girl Returns To Crime Scene
BRILLION, Wis. (AP) -- The case made national headlines more than a dozen years ago. Police in the Calumet County community of Brillion discover a 7-year-old girl locked away in a small dog cage in the basement of her parents' home. She and her brothers were finally rescued from years of abuse at the hands of their parents, Michael and Angeline Rogers, who were later sent to jail for a year.
That young girl, Chelsea, is now 21. She appeared on Oprah Winfrey's TV show Tuesday. She also returned to the basement where she was kept in the cage as a child. A tearful Chelsea revisited the dank surroundings and remembered "being that little girl." '
Today Chelsea says her sole purpose in life is giving her 1-year-old son the childhood she never had.
