Woman Hospitalized After Shooting In Brooklyn Park
BROOKLYN PARK, Minn. (WCCO) – One person was injured and sent to the hospital Friday afternoon after a shooting at an apartment complex in Brooklyn Park, according to police.
The incident happened at about 3:42 p.m. on the 5800 block of 73rd Avenue. Police responded to a report of several shots heard in the second floor hallway of an apartment complex in the area.
When they arrived, officers found an adult female in the second floor hallway who had sustained a non-life threatening gunshot wound to the back. She was transported to North Memorial Hospital.
Authorities learned through a preliminary investigation that there was an altercation between two groups of people in that hallway, which resulted in shots being fired from one of the groups at the other and striking the female victim.
No arrests have been made at this time as the investigation is ongoing. Police said there is no immediate danger to the public as it appears to be an isolated incident between the two groups.
The Hennepin County Crime Lab and the Hennepin County Sheriff's Office are assisting in the investigation with Brooklyn Park Police. Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call Brooklyn Park Police.
