Driver hits, kills woman in parking lot of St. Louis Park mall, city says
ST. LOUIS PARK, Minn. — A driver hit and killed a woman in the parking lot of a west metro mall Friday afternoon, officials said.
According to a city spokesperson, the fatal crash happened at the Shoppes at Knollwood in St. Louis Park around 1:30 p.m.
The woman died at the scene. The driver is cooperating, the city said.
Multiple agencies are investigating.
Friday's crash left shoppers, like Janice McDaniels, stunned.
"When I'm in this area, I don't see speeding going on at this shopping center," McDaniels said. "People need to be more cautious when driving."
Auto insurers report the number of claims spike on Black Friday and run above normal throughout the holiday season, according to the National Safety Council.
The Hennepin County Medical Examiner identified the victim as 72-year-old Debra Cizinski of Minneapolis.
