Former MN Woman Hears From Husband In Japan

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Since the strongest earthquake in nation's history hit Japan, we've been hearing from Minnesotans who have family members in Japan.
Karen Jones told us her husband, David Jones, is a pilot for Delta and is based out of the Twin Cities.
"Just having a spouse over there and seeing how devastating this earthquake is, I'm, my body is literally shaking," she said. "I'm so worried about what was going on there."
Karen said she's had hard time contacting her husband on the phone, but they first communicated over e-mail.
David said he was in high rise hotel in Narita, Japan when the quake hit. He and others had to evacuate the hotel.
David talked with WCCO Radio News from his hotel room after he had returned.
"It was hard to stand up when we got outside," David said to WCCO Radio. "We're looking up at the hotel, and you could see the hotel swaying."

"He said it's like being on one of those old machines," Karen said. "You put a quarter in the bed and it starts moving. He says that's happening every few minutes so it's pretty unnerving."
Karen said her husband and the rest of his crew are doing alright. No one was hurt.
But David says he's stuck in Narita because the airport is closed.
