Woman, Grandchildren Killed In Inver Grove Heights Crash
INVER GROVE HEIGHTS, Minn. (WCCO) -- Authorities say the three victims killed in a bus accident in Inver Grove Heights were a woman and her two grandchildren.
More information about the crash, which happened Friday, will be released this week.
Police say a car and bus collided head-on at the intersection of Argenta Trail and 77th Street West. The accident is under investigation and the cause of the crash is not yet known.
So far, authorities haven't released the victims' names, but loved ones have already built a small memorial.
On Saturday, family and friends brought flowers and three crosses near the accident scene. Two, of which, had names written on them.
Several people have stopped by the crash site to remember the three who lost their lives.
Marvin Emeott used to work with the driver of the vehicle.
He said she was a former bus driver and a bus monitor. He remembers an easy going woman who put students' safety, first.
"It would be the week of Thanksgiving and I'll be thinking of her very much so," he said. "We'll have to find out the circumstances. It's just tragic that it ends up being someone you know and have it happen."
No children were on board the bus at the time of the crash and the driver of that bus is OK.
Police are still investigating the cause of that crash.
