Girl Found Dead In Maplewood Homicide ID'd
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Authorities have identified the 16-year-old girl who was stabbed to death in Maplewood.
On Saturday morning, authorities were called to the area of McKnight Road and Ripley Avenue at about 4:32 a.m. Saturday on a report of a person needing medical attention. When police arrived, a female victim was found dead at the scene.
Police identified the victim Sunday afternoon as Anna Hurd of North St. Paul. The Ramsey County Medical Examiner's Office says Hurd's death was a result of several stabbing-type puncture wounds.
Chief Dave Kwam says authorities have collected enough evidence at the scene to believe that Hurd's death was a homicide.

"There was evidence present, which I'm not going to release, that would suggest her death was caused by homicide," Kwam said.
Hurd was found near Hillside Park, where Maplewood resident Rick Johnson spends most of his days. He was denied access during Saturday's investigation.
"I went to see if it was all right if I went for a walk. He kicked me out," Johnson said. "I hate to see something like this happen, for sure."
Investigators are continuing to interview those with information and analyzing evidence.
"We encourage people to take just the normal safety precautions. I don't think there needs to be any panic or anything, but it's too early to say. It's just we don't know yet," Kwam said.
A man with blond spiked hair is no longer being sought and police are not commenting on his involvement of the described person.
