Woman, 24, Accused Of Intentionally Running Over Woman With Car In Mpls.
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- A 24-year-old Minneapolis woman is in jail accused of deliberately hitting a woman with her vehicle in downtown Minneapolis early Saturday.
According to Minneapolis police, the incident happened at around 1 a.m. on the 500 block of Hennepin Avenue South.
Witnesses at the scene told police that Vanessa Uzong drove right at 26-year-old Miera Horton and even veered towards her when she tried to get out of the way.
Horton was then struck and dragged by the vehicle, which also rear-ended another vehicle. Horton was transported to the hospital where her condition is unknown at this time.
According to police, Uzong admitted to being the driver of the vehicle. She was then arrested at the scene and booked into Hennepin County Jail where she's being held on suspicion of assault with a dangerous weapon. She has not yet been charged.
Uzong's vehicle was towed and is now being held for the assault unit at the forensic lot.
The incident happened just minutes before a woman was shot and killed just a block away at a strip club.
