Witness Performed CPR On Sweat Lodge Participants
CAMP VERDE, Ariz. (AP) -- A woman who performed CPR on participants of an Arizona sweat lodge ceremony takes the stand again Friday in a self-help author's trial.
Dr. Jeanne Armstrong says she floated between Kirby Brown and James Shore, doing chest compressions and advising others on how to do CPR. Brown and Shore were later pronounced dead at a hospital.
A third participant, Liz Neuman, slipped into a coma and never regained consciousness.
Their deaths are the focus of James Arthur Ray's manslaughter trial in the central Arizona town of Camp Verde. He has pleaded not guilty.
Armstrong says Ray asked whether there was anything he could do to help while Brown and Shore were lying on the ground following the ceremony. She directed him to look for a defibrillator but none was found.
