Wis. Woman Found Dead At Bottom Of Cliff
BAYFIELD, Wis. (AP) — Bayfield County sheriff's officials say a woman who lived along a Lake Superior cliff fell to her death while pruning branches.
A friend called authorities Tuesday to report she hadn't seen the woman in several days. She visited her friend's home and found her car, purse and cell phone, but there was no sign of the 60-year-old woman.
Deputies went to the property along Highway 13 between Washburn and Bayfield and saw some newly-pruned branches and lawn and garden tools near the edge of the property along the lake.
They saw a tree pruner about five feet over the ledge and after climbing about halfway down the 90-foot cliff, spotted the woman's body in the lake.
WDIO-TV says an autopsy to determine the cause of death is not complete.
