Wis. Senator Recall Petitions Stolen
RIVER FALLS, Wis. (AP) -- A western Wisconsin man has been arrested for stealing some petitions to recall state Sen. Sheila Harsdorf.
Police say the man swiped the petitions outside EconoFoods in River Falls and drove away last weekend. He apparently had second thoughts, drove back to the store and threw the petitions at the volunteers. They landed on the wet pavement.
Volunteers provided a description of the man and his vehicle and police tracked him down at his home. Officers handcuffed him and hauled him down to the police station.
The Superior Daily Telegram says the man told police he found the sight of the recall petitions disturbing. He was released after he was cited for disorderly conduct. The Republican senator is being targeted for a recall because of her vote for the budget repair bill.
