Wis., Romney Campaign Settle Ballot Lawsuit
MADISON, Wis. (AP) — The state of Wisconsin has settled a federal lawsuit brought by Republican Mitt Romney's campaign seeking more time for military and overseas voters in Wisconsin to return ballots that were sent past a federal deadline.
The Wisconsin Government Accountability Board on Wednesday announced the settlement of the lawsuit filed last week.
The board says it has issued an order extending the time for ballots to be returned in four municipalities that sent out ballots with less than the required 45 days of transit time.
Board director Kevin Kennedy says only four ballots are affected and two of those have already been returned by the voters.
Romney campaign spokesman Ryan Williams says the campaign is pleased with the outcome and even one ballot being sent too late is unacceptable.
